This model is presented in the book The Crucible’s Gift: 5 Lessons From Authentic Leaders Who Thrive In Adversity by James Kelley (Kelley, 2018).

The author has tried to focus on the different ideas behind the concept of Authentic Leadership, and has distilled them into a model and a formula. At the core the idea of a crucible moment, which links to the concept that it is the adversities that power the best leaders. Together with Self-Awareness, it characterise an Authentic Leader. However, there are some further practices that the author identifies as key in developing further a truly effective Authentic Leader.
