Description:

Developed by Jeffrey Liker in his book Developing lean Leaders (Liker and Trachilis, 2014), is a model that tries to integrate various Lean practices derived especially from the Toyota experience, into a model of Leadership Development.

The model is organized around 4 phases, with at the core 5 Values derived from Quality approaches: Challenge, Kaizen Mind, Go and See, Teamwork and Respect.

The four phases are:

  1. Commit to Self-Development
  2. Coach and Develop Others
  3. Daily Management and Kaizen
  4. Create Vision and Align Goals

As you see, the model pushes a sort of continuous improvement methodology, whereby vision and goal alignment are rather a result of a disciplined approach, rather than the initial steps of the process.
