Richard Barrett

Barrett, R. (1998). Liberating the corporate soul: Building a visionary organization. Boston Butterworth-Heinemann.
Description:
The Seven Levels of Leadership Consciousness were developed by Richard Barrett, the founder of management consultancy firm The Barrett Values Centre, at the end of the Nineties. the model is a modern interpretation of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, adapted into two pyramids (Barrett, 1998). These are geared towards the goal of self-actualisation in Leaders.
By using this model, Leaders can establish how much they can develop themselves and adapt in order to have the greatest possible impact on their organisations and teams.
The model illustrates a number of “steps” that can be taken from merely being a “crisis manager”, to becoming a “Visionary” leader, which would be the top possibility.
