Bill George was one of the first authors to investigate the concept of Authentic Leadership in his bestselling book Authentic Leadership: Rediscovering the Secrets to Creating Lasting Value in 2004. In it he identified a wheel of authenticity, which essentially allows for the strengthening of the authenticity characteristics. At the core, however, there was the need to develop two important traits: inner self and being present.
