This blog has been silent for the last couple of years. For many reasons. Those who know me, are aware that my “writing” production has always been moving in cycle. Since when I moved back to the Milan area, I have concentrated a lot on my new work, but also on a different work-life balance. It is probably for this reason that this blog, which exists in some shape and form since 2004, has changed so many times its shape, content, form, even language (moving from Italian to English).
Focusing on Content
One of the issues in the past years has also been the technological complexity that my blog had reached. I’ve always been a kind of a nerd, so I had rebuilt the theme from scratch in many areas, re-done some plugins, integrated others, in an overall toolkit that was heavy and difficult to maintain. The different upgrades of Wordpress as a platform further created issues.
In parallel I had started a move of my note-taking habits into Notion, a tool that is really easy to use (yet still allows me to please a bit my nerdy side). I especially like its capability to build databases in a very easy manner, which is something I’ve been exploring already in the past for the HRForUkraine project as well as for my own Zettelkasten archive. Notion however has some limits in terms of actual website usage, which is why I tested a couple of services that integrate Notion with the web in a friendlier way, and have resorted in using super.so. Plus have migrated all comments from the old platform to the new one using an external service called Hyvor. I also used a number of services, including redirects, provided by Cloudflare.
As of June 24th I have completed the migration of my content from the old wordpress based platform into Notion. And have started reviewing a few of the posts that still (today) attract more visitors. The process is still slow, so although the site is fully functional, some elements in terms of discoverability, link updates, images and “related posts” might not always be working as intended.
Less Blogging
I have also decided to focus less on actual “blogging”, and rather re-start my newsletter (for more updated an fungible content), and use this site for broader research-type of articles. Which is why I will slowly take back hold on the articles that have historically attracted more visitors, correct and update some of these, as well as focus on my Toolkit and Inspiration pieces, rather than giving just pieces of content that age quickly.
Article Update List
Here a list of the articles and post-series that I am currently updating.
- Leadership Models: The Theory and the Practice [June 24, 2024], have moved the Leadership Models collection into a Database format, allowing for easier usage, and more flexibility. Will continue to add content.
- The Ultimate Quest for the Meaning of Work: [July 1st, 2024], have done a quick edit of this series of post, ensuring links are consistent in the new platform, and correcting a few issues (including some missing images and outdated links).
- Business Models: The Theory and the Practice [August 21, 2024], have added a few model, checked spelling and embedded a few feedbacks.
Other Site’s features
- Tags [August 20, 2024]. I’ve reviewed the way Tags work (Notion does not have an out-of-the-box tagging functionality, but there’s a way around that I have implemented, and have now completed the release of its content: you can find it at the Tags Archive page.
Thanks a lot for your continued interest and support!
